Welcome to Red 5 Garage

If you've been around the Subaru and JDM performance world for a while, you might recognize the name Ignition Logic. If you don't — that's okay. You're about to.

We're Alex and Lexie. Together, we ran Ignition Logic — a full-service dyno tuning shop where we built and tuned customer cars from the ground up. No website. No social media. No content. Just cars, a dyno, and word of mouth. And honestly, it worked. Until life happened.

In 2020, we closed the doors. No dramatic story — just real life doing what it does. We stepped away from the industry to rebuild personally and financially. Got jobs. Started a family. Put the wrenches down.

But here's the thing nobody tells you about this hobby: it never actually leaves you.

Coming back to the performance world five years later, we had a choice to make.

We could try to rebuild the shop. Take on customers. Sell our time piece by piece, hour by hour, just like before. And honestly? That's not why we're here.

This time, we're not selling our time. We're giving away our knowledge.

Red 5 Garage is built on a completely different foundation than Ignition Logic ever was. Instead of working on your car for you — we want to show you how to do it yourself. We want to document our own builds, share what we've learned from years in the industry, break down the engineering so it actually makes sense, and help you make smarter decisions with your money and your build.

As we grow, we're building a team of people who share that same passion — enthusiasts and experts who are here because they love this stuff, not just because it's a job. This is a community effort from day one.

Maybe you just picked up your first WRX or STI and you're already down a rabbit hole of forums, YouTube videos, and conflicting advice that's leaving you more confused than when you started. Or maybe you've had your Subaru for a few years, done a few bolt-ons, and now you're starting to wonder — what actually comes next? What does the tune do? Do I really need a fuel pump? Why does everyone online seem to know something I don't?

Red 5 Garage is for you.

We're not here to talk over your head or make you feel like you need a mechanical engineering degree to enjoy this hobby. We're here to be the friends in the scene who've been doing this for years — the ones who give you the straight answer, tell you what's worth your money, and actually help you understand why things work the way they do.

We've got projects in motion. Street builds. Race builds. Cars that are going to get driven hard, documented honestly, and used to demonstrate everything we teach on this site. Build diaries, how-to guides, racing content — the real stuff, wins and mistakes included. No highlight reel BS.

And let's talk about tuning — because this is where a lot of content in this space gets it wrong.

We're not going to hand you a list of off-the-shelf tunes and tell you which one to pick. We're not going to flash a file on your car and call it a day. That's not teaching. That's just doing it for you with extra steps.

What we are going to do is show you how to read your own data. How to look at your logs and understand what they're telling you. How to know when something is wrong before it becomes a problem. How to understand what a tune is actually changing inside your ECU — and why those changes matter for your specific setup, your specific mods, your specific driving.

The goal isn't to make you dependent on us. The goal is to make you capable on your own.

Same goes for parts. We're not here to push product for the sake of it. When we recommend something, it's because we've run it, we trust it, and it's the best value for what it does. Your money should go toward parts that actually move the needle — not the ones with the biggest marketing budget. We'll stock what we believe in and tell you exactly why.

Learn to fish. We'll show you how.

Five years ago we closed a chapter. Today we're starting a new one — and this time, you're invited along for the ride. Red 5 Garage isn't just a parts store or a blog. It's a community built around the cars we love, the culture that surrounds them, and the belief that you don't have to be a professional to build something you're proud of.

We're a small team right now — built on shared passion and a lot of years in this industry. As we grow, the people who join us will be cut from the same cloth: enthusiasts first, always.

If that resonates with you — follow along. Subscribe to the blog. Find us on social. Share this with the Subaru owner in your life who's about to start their first build.

The journey is just getting started. And we couldn't be more ready.
